The goal of this site is to share knowledge, provide resources to anyone in the same boat as me as far as learning cybersecurity, and generally have a site to fuck around with, if I am being honest.
After years of study as a hobby, I am actively trying to make my way to a paid position within the field of cybersecurity. It seems the more I learn, the more I realize how little I know. It would be discouraging if I didn’t feel so much further ahead than I was.
One of the most helpful practices I have gotten into as far as learning goes has been to download virtual machines from vulnhub. It started as a fun and free way to actually put into practice the things I was learning, but it has really helped expose me to new ideas, thinking critically, and understanding the “why” of security best practices. I can’t thank the people who put them together enough.
One of my goals with this site is to provide walkthroughs for those machines as I complete them, including the things I have tried that failed. I have used walkthroughs myself to help me learn, and the one annoying thing that I found when doing that were the spoilers. I often just wanted hints or direction, but walkthroughs are typically straightforward and offer little opportunity to take a hint and run with it.
I am hopeful to have some interaction with the community, so please feel free to leave comments, make suggestions or provide your feedback.
